AdvisorFest 2024—Here’s What You Missed

AdvisorFest is Symmetry Partners’ annual virtual event focused on strategies and solutions to help independent Financial Advisors deliver an exceptional client experience, grow and scale their practices, and gain perspective on new investment solutions.

Our 2024 event was filled with insight and valuable information, with presentations on Investments, Marketing, and Practice Management.

Investments

In “From Factor Capture to Adding DFA and Avantis—PrecisionCore ETF Model Enhancements,” presented by Kevin Scully, CFA, Director, Investments & Portfolio Manager, Symmetry Partners, we learned about recent enhancements to Symmetry’s PrecisionCore ETF models, including the addition of noted managers Dimensional and Avantis to the portfolios.

New international, developed and emerging markets factor exposure and more balanced and efficient Factor Capture were also discussed.

Kevin also noted the significant portfolio benefits of improved equity diversification.

“The Role of Fixed Income SMAs/Ladders in HNW Portfolios—An Introduction to Wasmer Schroeder,” presented by Matt Kuss, Client Portfolio Strategist, Wasmer Schroeder, focused on how successful advisors are using fixed-income SMAs in portfolios to address their high-net-worth (HNW) clients’ unique needs.

Matt’s discussion detailed best practices and talked about how Wasmer Schroeder, a leader in the space, manages tax-exempt and taxable SMAs and Ladders.

“It’s really designed for clients who are looking for tax efficiency,” he underscored.

Marketing

“Believe! Grow Your Practice Faster & More Profitably with Your Ideal Clients the Ted Lasso Way” presented by Casey Dylan, Founder & Creative Director, Story Market Services, detailed how sophisticated story techniques can expand your brand and attract more of the right kind of clients.

“The ability to leverage some of these storytelling techniques will really advance the case,” Casey explained. “And, of course, it will then help you influence others to strive to achieve great things, whether that’s your client base or your colleagues you work with.”

“Future-Proof Your Practice: 7 Ways to Leverage AI in your Advisory Practice,” presented by Cole Connelly and Drew Cutting of Symmetry Partners Marketing, explored how artificial intelligence (AI) can help make Financial Advisors’ firms more effective and efficient.

Client communication is essential for building trust and strong relationships with clients, they emphasized. This can now be done much more easily with the help of AI.

Practice Management

“Philanthropic Planning for Clients: Private Foundations,” presented by Jessica Donahue, Senior Managing Director, Foundation Source, discussed possibilities in the philanthropic space for the individuals, families, and corporations, focusing on the advantages of Private Foundations’ complete, outsourced solution.

“Foundation Source can establish a new foundation in about a week. We also work with foundations that have been making grants for generations,” Jessica explained. “The foundations may start small and grow gradually over time or be the sudden recipient of substantial funds via an estate settling or liquidity event.”

The panel discussion, “How Advisors Are Growing Their HNW Businesses Today Using Tax Alpha and Direct Indexing,” was moderated by Nan Price, Symmetry Marketing Group, with Mike Storer, Senior Regional Director, Symmetry Partners; Brian Cote, Founder of Gramercy Park Wealth Advisors; and Kris Wallick, founder of Wallick Wealth Management.

Key takeaways from the discussion include understanding the complexities of the HNW—especially taking the time to find out how they want to work with an Advisor—and utilizing Symmetry’s Direct Indexing solutions to meet the HNW need for personalization.
