Symmetry Spotlight: Bartlomiej Radziszewski

What led you to a career in finance?

I’ve been with the company now for 18 years. I actually wanted to be a police officer. I started at Symmetry as an intern. The company gave me such a great opportunity to get into IT. It just grabbed me and I thought I could be a “technology cop,” protecting data versus doing police work.

What do you enjoy most about your role here?

Since I started 18 years ago, our safety and security have grown rapidly, and we’ve changed everything including our user training. We partner with various vendors to ensure our employees are well-informed about how to pass sensitive data between other companies and clients.

What is the most important way you help Symmetry’s clients?

With technology constantly growing—and Symmetry constantly growing—we’re always ready to turn on a dime and go in the direction or avenue that we have to best help the clients out. That, in turn, forces me to make sure that everything’s protected while we’re doing that.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned professionally?

It was from the former Symmetry CEO. She told me that I don't always have to be the smartest one in the room. It’s okay to say you don’t know. Instead, you can say: Let me do some research. Let me get back to you and compile the best answer for the problem.

Saying something quickly on a whim doesn’t show that you’re smart. It just shows that you’re answering questions just to answer questions without actually giving it proper thought. So listen all the way, gather your data, and then present the proper solutions.

Also, think outside of the box and help the company grow. Speak up if there’s a problem or you see something that is difficult not operating as smoothly as it can be. Speak up. And we will change the process and we'll make it move with the times and keep everything safe at the same time.
